Lectors serve the liturgical assembly by proclaiming the sacred scriptures (with the exception of the Gospel) during the Liturgy of the Word. If there is no Deacon present at the Mass, the Lector also announces the intentions for the general intercessions.
A Lector should be a fully initiated and practicing member of the Church with a confident belief that sacred scripture is the Word of God and a respect for God’s presence in that Word. He or she should possess the necessary ability and talents to proclaim the Word of God in a clear, dignified and effective manner.
Lectors are responsible for attending the Masses for which they are scheduled, arriving 15 minutes early to prepare. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, or learning more about this Ministry, please contact Gloria Lowe by leaving a message for her at the parish office.
